Hearts Broken
The Awakening
Moral and spiritual decline is leaving individuals unable to understand Scripture, recognize sin, or accept Christ (John 6:68-69; Matthew 15:14).
Those who remain in this state are described as perishing, lost, or separated from God (2 Thessalonians 2:12; Revelation 3:17).
It also affects communities as blind leaders can misguide others, leading to collective spiritual failure (Matthew 15:14).
Due to sin, Satan’s deception, or human pride. It carries serious consequences but can be remedied through Christ, who brings spiritual sight, understanding, and life.
The metaphor of blindness underscores the importance of spiritual perception and the transformative power of God’s light in overcoming darkness.

Causes of Spiritual Blindness
Sin and Human Nature: Humanity’s sinful nature hardens the heart and darkens the mind, leaving people spiritually dead and blind to God’s truth (Romans 3:10–12; Ephesians 2:1)
Satan’s Influence: The Bible describes Satan as the “god of this age,” actively blinding the minds of unbelievers to prevent them from seeing the light of the gospel (2 Corinthians 4:4)
Pride and Self-Reliance: Relying on one’s own understanding and rejecting God’s wisdom can also lead to spiritual blindness, as the heart resists divine guidance (Proverbs 21:24; Zechariah 7:11–12)
